Integrated Drilling Equipment, has acquired S&P Drives Automation Controls (S&P DAC), LLC, CEO Steve Cope announced. S&P DAC will now be known as International Electric Company (IEC) Automation and Controls.

S&P DAC designs and manufactures advanced drilling control and automation systems. Charles Piper and Matt Shaw’s 35 years of combined experience have allowed them to provide consultation and the development and support of custom, advanced control systems for drilling rigs where open source access was available.
Now as IEC Automation and Controls, the new division will operate with support from IEC Systems – a full-service electrical design, engineering, manufacturing, supply and installation division of IDE. IEC Systems services a global clientele specializing in the maintenance of electrical, lighting, power generation, fire and gas detection, communication, alarm, shutdown, and control systems.

Delivery of the first unit is scheduled in the third quarter 2014, with the additional units to be delivered by December 2014. The specifications were developed through close collaboration of the IDE and PEMEX teams. Deployment of the drilling packages will be key steps toward the development of the Tekel, Ayastil, Xux and Tsimin fields in the Bay of Campeche.

Integrated Drilling Equipment (IDE) Company, has increased their presence in North American shale plays with the fulfillment of the 12th contract for the Sparta Drilling System.
Introduced three years ago, Sparta is a safe, highly efficient, fast-moving rig designed for well programs where drilling time is minimal and fast, efficient rig moves are essential. This flexible modular design is capable of rigging up the V-door in either the X- or Y-axis position from well to well, meeting the strictest Department of Transportation load limitations.
Over the past two years, IDE has delivered 12 Sparta-style land rigs, nine Self Elevating Drilling System (SEDS) style land rigs, and additional rig designs and refurbished rigs totaling 56 rigs delivered since 2007.
